Another Nigerian, ThankGod Okoro killed in South Africa

The Nigerian community in South Africa has again been thrown into mourning, following the latest extra-judicial killing of a Nigerian in the country.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the killing of 30-year old ThankGod Okoro from Ogbaku in the Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, is the latest in what has been described as recurring pre-meditated murders of young Nigerians in South Africa.  

Headies 2018 Rap categories show progress at music awards

Nigeria's most glamorous music awards, The Headies in the early hours of today rolled out the nominees list for its 12th edition holding on the May 5, 2018.

One category that has caught the eye of many is the ones that cater for the rap genre.

Leading the rap pack across three categories in the 'Best Rap Single', 'Lyricist on the roll' and 'Best Rap Album', are   M.I Abaga with 3 nominations and the quartet of A-Q, Erigga, Falz and Phyno bagging 2 respectively.

Headies 2018 Davido, Wizkid, Simi lead nominees list

The nominees list for the 12th edition of the Headies is out.

In a press statement released by the organizers of the Headies, Smooth Promotions, on Friday, April 13, 2018 "the awards academy released the list after short listing thousands of entries submitted in the year under review (from July 2016 - December 2017)."

In the 12th edition of the Headies, there are over 25 categories and 77 nominees. Nigerian pop superstar Davido leads with six nominations. Singer Simi, Wizkid and rapper Olamide follow with five nominations each.

Bomb kills 5 people during a football match in Somalia

A bomb blast killed at least five spectators during a football match in southern Somalia, police and a lawmaker said on Friday, the first time an explosion has targeted a stadium.  

The blast went off in the port town of Barawe, in the Lower Shabelle region, when residents were watching a football match on Thursday afternoon, police said, adding that al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab could be behind the attack.  Police said it appeared to have been detonated by remote control.

However, unlike Big Brother shows, there would be no voting, evictions or winner.
