Nigeria’s flag carrier airline, Arik Air Wednesday resumed flight operations after 48 hours of shutting its services down owing to issues bordering on renewal of its insurance.
The airline’s first flight took off at about 1pm with many passengers unsure when their flights would be as many flights already booked before the disruptions were rescheduled.
Many who had planned to depart at 7am Wednesday following text messages received by the airline could not do so.
The flight originally scheduled for Wednesday morning could not depart until 4pm. It was not clear if all the flights departed Wednesday, but the airline announced that it has resumed operations in a statement.
The carrier, however, asked members of the public to discountenance what it described as the disparaging allegations, unsubstantiated and uninformed claims about the airline’s inability to meet its financial obligations to aviation fuel marketers and a purported withdrawal of insurance services to Arik Air by its insurers.
