DJ Khaled Went Back in Time and Assembled the Rap Group of Your Dreams

Serving as BeyoncĂ©'s opening act during her record-breaking Formation World Tour has been probably the highlight of DJ Khaled's career thus far. When working closely with Queen Bey, it's only natural that one would rub shoulders with some of the best and brightest in music. Taking advantage of this, Khaled posted a photo to Instagram with a few hip hop legends that is giving us hip hop nostalgia, making us think about what could have been.
The "We The Best" MC posted a pic with hip hop legends Jay ZDMX and Ja Rule backstage during the last leg of the 49-city trek at East Rutherford, New Jersey.

This moment is bigger than a photo as these three were once a short-lives supergroup known as Murder Inc. back in the day. Fans may remember they posed for the ninth issue of XXL magazine back in 1999, announcing their iconic emergence onto the New York hip hop scene.

Though fans were itching for music from the then-group in '99, they never came around to releasing an actual project. Just recently, in 2014, Ja Rule spoke with MTV News, explaining what happened among the fellas, blaming their demise on egos.
"We tried to deliver hhat album. It was a situation where egos all just played a part in its demise," he said. "We couldn't get X and Jay in the same room, from long ago, their stories battle on the pool table, guns out [and] all of that."
The feud Ja was referencing between Hov and X became the talk of the industry for some time, with X actually referencing it in front of Hov, this year.
"You know, I still gotta get you on the pool table, man," he joked.
It's great to see all three of them move past their differences and remain in a good place, today.
See what else Khaled's been up to in the BET Breaks video, above.
